I want to let you guys in on what’s going on around my house these days. There is a whole lot of cooking going on and not by me. My dear, sweet hubby and my
dear, sweet brother have teamed up together to participate in several BBQ competitions this summer. The first of which will be next month in Winchester, TN at the High on the Hog Festival
. They are so excited and I am too. I have eaten more BBQ in the last 6 months than I ever did in the 7 years I lived in Memphis ( well almost).
So this past weekend my brother and his girlfriend Tammy ( who is the sweetest, smartest woman my brother has ever had the good fortune to date)
came down for the weekend to do a practice run.
They set the tent up in the backyard just like they would for competition.
They set up the smokers and the tables and the table and the lounge chairs and they
drank a lot of beer
worked really hard.
In the end they had some failures and some successes.
But Tammy and I cheered them on the whole way.
Turn in times were set and turn in boxes were made and we all got to be the judges. Which is probably the best part.
I can’t show you the rib and brisket boxes, my brother would probably kill me if I did. So I’ll just show you the hubby’s boxes. It was all delicious and we had several people over to help us eat the rest. It was a great weekend and great BBQ.
